Cylinder Head Service
Performance and OEM valve jobs, resurfacing, pressure testing, screw-in studs, seat pocket work, and valve guide replacement.
Cylinder heads, block machining with torque-plate honing, and crankshaft work — done to spec by the two owners who built this shop in 2016. OEM tolerances or high-performance setups, your engine gets the same attention to detail.
Everything below happens in our shop on Duncan Bridge Road — not farmed out. Full detail on the services page.
Performance and OEM valve jobs, resurfacing, pressure testing, screw-in studs, seat pocket work, and valve guide replacement.
Boring, honing with torque plate, align honing, decking, cam bearing installation, expansion plugs, and lifter bore honing.
Grinding, balancing, and polishing, plus reconditioned connecting rods — the rotating assembly done as a system.
Fire ring installation built to stop the head gasket failures these Ford diesels are known for.
Correct spring pressure is critical to camshaft life. We set it up properly so you don't wipe a cam — or worse.
Aftermarket aluminum heads and name-brand internals — Eagle, Scat, Callies, Dart — at competitive prices, with honest advice on what your build actually needs.
"We're not the cheapest quote you'll get in White County — we're the shop that gives you more than you expect from an average machine shop, and does it once."
The 6.0–6.4 Power Stroke has a well-earned reputation for head gasket failure. Patching it the factory way invites a repeat. We build the permanent fix.
Warped or fatigued heads and stock gaskets that can't hold cylinder pressure — coolant loss, white smoke, and the same failure again a year later.
New cylinder heads plus fire ring installation, machined and set up in-house — built specifically to combat the head gasket issues these trucks are known for.
LS honing, prototype V8 builds, CNC work on a vintage BMW M30 — this is what our customers follow us for. Tap any photo to zoom. See the latest on our Facebook page.
Name-brand internals, in stock and advised honestly
CES is a full-service automotive machine shop, open since April 2016 and run day-to-day by owners Levi Pursley and Bobby Hattaway. We specialize in OEM and high-performance engines, carry the latest aftermarket parts, and pride ourselves on attention to detail — giving you more than you expect from an average machine shop.
Chevy LS, big block, Ford Power Stroke diesel, vintage imports — if it makes compression, we machine it.
Both. We've specialized in OEM and high-performance engines since 2016 — a daily-driver rebuild gets the same measuring and machining standards as a race build.
Yes — it's one of our specialties. We install new cylinder heads with fire rings, built specifically to combat the head gasket issues Ford 6.0–6.4 diesels are known for, instead of repeating the factory setup that failed.
A torque plate bolted to the block simulates an installed cylinder head while we hone. Without it, the bores distort when the head goes on, costing ring seal and power. With it, the cylinders are round in the condition that matters — assembled.
Because incorrect spring pressure is one of the fastest ways to ruin a camshaft — premature wear at best, catastrophic damage at worst. We set springs to the cam's actual requirements before the engine ever fires.
Both. We carry high-performance and OE parts from Eagle, Scat, Callies, and Dart at competitive prices — including a full line of aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads — and we'll tell you honestly what your build needs and what it doesn't.
